Is Law Enforcement Failing Victims of Domestic Violence? ⁣

There are far too many stories of victims being turned away by the police when they attempt to lay assault charges, with excuses such as:

👉 "The person will probably get away with it if they say they weren't themselves,"

👉 "It's better to just get a protection order,"

👉 "His legal team will outlitigate you so it is better to not even try" or

👉 "It could have been worse."

This is unacceptable, and it's no wonder so many victims either remain in violent situations or end up not reporting the violence. What a sad time we live in🤔

Victims of domestic violence deserve to be taken seriously and treated with the utmost care and respect. Instead, many encounter a lack of understanding and empathy from the very people who are supposed to protect them.

My suggestion- Police officers need better training to recognise the signs of abuse and to handle such cases sensitively and effectively.

We must strive for systemic change to ensure that victims of domestic violence receive the protection and justice they deserve.

Law enforcement, the legal system, and society as a whole must work together to create a safer environment for everyone. Only then can we begin to address the deep-rooted issues that allow such failures to persist.
